We went to Schmidts this year to let the kids pick their own pumpkins out. Brittany ran way away from us to the farthest section to begin her pumpkin hunt. She had her picture taken by several pumpkins and then we would discover that the other side was rotting. You would think that we would have started checking before posing for pictures. But we finally found one. She wanted a tall, skinny, fat one (now does that make sense?) I don't think we ended up with a picture of the actual one she found except for the picture of her coloring it. She ended up with one that wouldn't stand up so I said it was sleeping. Kylee found hers a lot faster and was excited to color it. So she started helping mom and dad pick their pumpkins out.

Fall Break festivities
For Fall Break we went on some day activities with Jon's niece and her family. We were supposed to go to some caves but that fell thru so we decided to do this instead.

Brittany and Kylee thought they looked like they were under water.
Not sure who the girl in the picture is next to Jon, Brittany, and Kylee.
Kylee driving a boat.

On Thursday we went to the Dinosaur Park up in Ogden. I wouldn't go up there to just go to that. But since we were already in Ogden we thought we may as well go. I was a little disappointed with the outside dinosaurs. I like the one at Thanksgiving Point better. But the kids liked seeing the dinosaurs. As we drove up you could hear sound effects so I told the kids that they needed to stay with us since the dinosaurs were alive. I don't think the believed me (but I don't think they were quite sure what to think), but I kept it going by telling them that the wire fences on both sides were to keep the dinosaurs inside while we drove around and looked at them (kind of like was it Jurassic Park?)

We had a buy one get one free for the gold mine (as well as entrance into the park) so we thought the kids might like looking for gold. They had 10 minutes to look for gold. It was the longest 10 minutes. They must have let us go longer than that. The lighting was kind of annoying because it was red (you can see it a little bit on Jon's shirt, without the flash it was like that all over). The kids seemed to have fun looking for gold. After they had us come out they were given little bags to put their gold in so they could keep it.

They are out of sequence because we did the fish aquarium last (this was our Friday activity). We hadn't been here for a couple years so we hadn't seen the penguin exhibit, which was kind of interesting to see. The kids were having fun. They were going from one tank to the next without giving us time to see what was inside and still try to keep up with them. The both got to touch the sting ray. One of the sting ray kept popping his head out. I guess he wanted people to notice him.

The first place on Thursday we went to was the Hill Aerospace Museum. The kids really liked seeing all the airplanes. They thought they looked cool. Some of the places were so huge it was amazing. Especially when you were right up next to them. We followed Jon's niece's family who happened to take the wrong exit and proceeded to go into the actual base. Of course we weren't allowed to go to far, they told us where we could turn around. They took Jason's drivers license and told him they would give it back as he exited the base. We just had to follow.

Shaving Cream Fun
The girls wanted to have some after school fun in shaving cream. At first they were both hesitant to put their hands into it. But they got over it quickly. I think they decided squishing it between their fingers and hands WAS fun.

"Art" by Brittany
As you know Brittany loves to draw. We have many different articles of her artwork. This particular piece is an ocean scene. The blue is obviously the water and the orange is the sand. Then we have different animals through the scene. We have whales, pelicans, crabs, penguins, etc.

Soccer
Brittany wanted to play soccer really bad this year. So we signed her up. She had a blast at the games. At one game one of the fans from the other team told me that Brittany was his favorite player. The reason he said that is because she kept coming over and asking us how long until the game was over. But looking at the below picture (which was her first game) she had fun chasing after the ball. Later in the season she would start entertaining us all by rolling around on the grass. I think she got a little bored by then. But hey, she now has a soccer ball and can say that she played soccer. Now she wants to try karate...maybe next year.

1st day of school 2010
Brittany's 1st day of school. She has been excited to go to 1st grade since the first day of summer break. She said being home is borning she wanted to go to computer, recess, library, etc. So now she is back and ready to go. I hope she has a fun year!!!

Kylee's 1st day of pre-school and her last year..yeah!!! She wants so badly to go to kindergarten. A bunch of her friends from the neighborhood started this year and I think she feels a little left out. But she really likes pre-school and her teacher.

2010 Summer Wrap Up
Since I wasn't very diligent about blogging I thought I would at least do a summer wrap up of our activities.
We went to Soapstone for the 24th of July weekend. This was the first time we actually went all by ourselves on a camping trip. As you know we go camping frequently but we always go with someone. This was probably my favorite one because the kids got along and it was just fun worrying about what we wanted to do in our own time frame. I hadn't been to Soapstone for a long time so it was fun taking the kids somewhere we had both been a long time ago. The kids loved exploring, fishing, playing in the dirt, and looking for pinecones. This trip Kylee seemed to be constantly falling over everything.
The following few pictures are out in some fields during one of our drives, somewhere up above Trial Lake.
