Kids Bowl Free

Finally made it the week before the last time to do the Kids Bowl Free. The kids got their money worth, but since I signed Jon and I up as well...we didn't. I guess if I do it next year I will only sign the kids up.

The kids had a blast. Brittany didn't want to use the ramp. When asked why she said because it makes you feel older if you do it the way everyone else does. Kylee used them for a while but then she started to bowl without the ramp. Needless to say when Kylee bowled there was a lot of ball dropping when she let go. But they did pretty good.

Not sure if Kylee is leaning so the ball will go the way she wants it to or not.

Was happy with her particular time up to bowl.

Brittany beat us all the first game. It has been a long time since I have bowled. And you would never guess by either score that I had a class in college. I apparently needed the bumper pads but I was to old...oh well.

Sunday evening hot dog roast

So after church we decided that we wanted to go roast hot dogs. So we gathered everything together (we even happened to have a bundle of wood left over from Memorial Day) and took off. We only went down to Nephi Canyon because it isn't to far. We ended up in the free campground and found a spot. The kids explored in the "jungle" and helped gather sticks for the fire.

Then we started roasting. They both wanted to do their own. Kylee eventually gave up and let Jon do hers. Brittany kind of cooked them. They were warm on the outside and cold inside...but that is how she says she likes them.

Fun little get-a-way.

A day of boating at Utah Lake

Mom and dad took us to Utah Lake for a couple hours of boating today. The kids had a blast being pulled behind the boat on the tubes. The both wanted to just jump into the lake and swim around. We did let them get in at one point but neither of them were comfortable so they didn't stay in long. Really need to get swimming lessons going. I even got up water skiing for a little while...I can tell I am not used to that anymore. I got tired way fast and then for a few days after I was very sore. The water was pretty warm so it wasn't shocking to jump in.

Lagoon Day

Went to Lagoon this year for our family activity (courtesy of mom and dad). The girls had a blast. Brittany found that she likes all the big rides so she rode a bunch of them with grandpa. Kylee likes the ones she is tall enough for as well. The problem for me is that I can't do all those rides very well anymore. Hopefully I can make it thru until "I" feel Brittany is old enough to go on by herself. The day turned out good. The only time I remember it raining/sprinkling was during our lunch but we were already under the pavillion at the time so it didn't really matter. We got really soaked in Rattlesnake Rapids, but it was fun. We ended up almost staying until close (eventhough we separated from everyone because we were planning on leaving a lot earlier than that)...but we had to dry off and then the kids were having fun so it was hard to leave. Another fun day at Lagoon...now to Bounce Back (see below).

I only had one picture taken because I didnt' want to carry the camera around all day.

Instead of doing a separate entry I figured I would include our Bounce Back day here as well. We asked mom and dad if they wanted to go with us to Bounce Back. Brittany went on a bunch of rides with grandpa and Kylee did too of course. I decided I like going on weekdays because it doesn't seem as crowded and the lines are not as long.

After we rode Rattlesnake Rapids we headed over to Pioneer Village and decided to get icecream. While we were deciding on flavors Jon's mom called and he ended up leaving to see his dad in the hospital...all ended up ok. After eating icecream we headed over for more rides. While waiting on the big bumper cars for them to start the ride (after we were seated and buckled in) he announced the normal rules and said the ride will start when the buzzer sounds. Well as soon as he flipped the switch...the power in the whole park went off. It ended up staying off for about 1 1/2 hours, so we went to eat a snack and waited for a while. The power was still out when Jon returned but it did eventually come back on so we didn't just have to leave. Found out later as we were leaving and then again on the news that we could all go again another time for free because of the power outage, but two times should be plenty.

Took Brittany on Jet Star 2. I think she was still a little to small for that because it really flipped her head around. I think she bonked it once. I tried supporting her, but being twisted and turned as fast as you are it is kind of hard. Kylee wasn't happy at all that she couldn't go on it. But it was for the best.

All in all it was a fun day!

Brittany's "little brother"?

So we have a new addition to our family. His name is Marvin the Martian. Not sure who he resembles but Brittany has decided that he is her brother and will sleep in her room. She suddenly has this thing for Looney Tunes and really likes the Martian cartoons. We have had to look up pictures of him, watch the videos online, make beds, and numerous pictures. As you can see she has created him out of legos, which I think she did a pretty good job. She is very creative with her creations.

Horse Riding

Our neighbor did a summer camp for the kids in the neighborhood. It goes on for 3 weeks Tuesdays and Thursdays. This particular day was Western Day so they got to learn about the west and ride horses. This was the one they were looking forward to the most.
