A Day at Corn Belly's
We went to Corn Belly's with Jon's niece and her family. We were only going to go for a couple hours but ended up being there the majority of the day. We had never been there before and we had a couple discounts for the kids. I didn't realize there were so many activities for the kids. We definately got money's worth for the kids. They had an absolute blast. Mostly just pictures to look at not much text. We went in the big maze and a couple smaller ones. Brittany and Kylee wanted to try the dragon tent...but they both got scared and I don't think they ended up liking it. It was dark and hard to find your way around. In the middle we found the dragons heart beating.

After they did some pig races for the kids they said they had another category but they needed the ugliest men. Well Jon brought attention to himself by moving to stand behind me. Since he was standing on the top of the back row...that got their attention. So guess who was picked. It ended up being goat races for the men. Brittany was just thrilled and went up with Jon, then she kept telling him how funny it was that he got picked as the ugliest.

Brittany's Swimming Lessons
Brittany had her first session of swimming lessons. She has private lessons so she and the teacher can move at Brittany's pace. Which is nice. I was a little worried about how she would do with putting her face in the water. But surprisingly she did great. She loved it. Her teacher gave her some goggles (so we will also need to find some that may fit better...since these are some that people left and they were going to be taken to the DI). The only problem Brittany has about going under water is she gets water in her nose all the time. Tried nose plugs but she couldn't keep them on (I don't think she liked that they pinched her nose). The teacher thinks she would be able to swim longer and more consistantly if we could get her to keep the water out of her nose.
But she absolutely loved swimming lessons and is looking forward to when she can take classes again. The teacher did give us 4 passes to the pool. Only good for the kids (parents apparently still have to pay) but I'm sure we can use them...hopefully before they expire.

Kylee's swimming lessons
Finally we signed Kylee up for swimming lessons. She was so excited and wasn't really afraid of putting her face in the water. The teacher told them she has three rules in her class.
So she always tried what was asked of her. The teacher worked really well with the kids to make them feel comfortable. She is also Brittany's primary teacher so we know her pretty good. Kylee has done great and is looking forward to her next session. (I tried downloading a couple videos but they wouldn't work)

2-You can say I'll try.
3- You can't say no.

Strawberry Trip
Well we ended up with one more camping trip for the year up to Strawberry. Unfortunately this is the only picture I took and it wasn't of everyone. Mom, Dad, Shelley, and Finn were there too. We weren't sure we were going to make it because Jon was feeling sick, but he was a trooper and came anyway.
It was a fun trip. We ended up staying for two nights. On our way up we went thru some pretty good rain/tundershowers. It stoppped enough the first night to be able to all come out and roast marshmallows. Mom and dad had their magic fire for the kids. The 2nd day we all had a chance to go on the boat and fish for a little while before mom, dad, Shelley and Finn had to leave.
Bishops and us stayed for that night as well. After everyone else left we ended up going over to an area Craig saw to fish at the bank. Brittany's most exciting part of that excursion was finding a lot of dead crawdads. She got bored with the fishing, until however, as she was pulling her line in she saw she had caught a live crawdad. She was so excited and couldn't stop talking about how cool it was.
We roasted marshmallows again during the evening. Then headed to bed. It was quite cold this night. We had frost on our pillows and blankets. It took a while for our trailer to dry off enough that next morning before we could leave. Bishops left before us.

Last Camping Trip of Year and First Day of School
Starting blog catch-up:
We wanted to make one more camping trip for this year but didn't want to travel far so we packed the trailer and headed down to our fall back of Nephi Canyon. We were surprised at how full it was. We did find a spot in a campground (free because it only had outhouses and no running water). But we got one of the last spots. Little did we know that we camped at the end where the partiers all gathered. The last night we were there they played music until around 4 or 5 in the morning, glad the kids didn't hear it but it was very annoying. We explored around a little and the kids found this huge weed they liked playing with. Sometimes it is nice to just get away for a couple days.

Brittany's First Day of School (2nd Grade)
She was very excited to start school today. She even drew a picture for her teacher. When she came home that night she said "You mean we get to go to school tomorrow...this day just gets better and better!" So she had a great first day. (We didn't get as many pics of her on the first day because she doesn't ride the bus.)
She was so excited to finally start at the big school. This day has been long awaited for her since Brittany's first day of Kindergarten. It was kind of funny to see how quiet she was when she was around all the other kids, she didn't really talk to anyone (when we saw her). Knowing how social she is, it seemed a little weird (however, fast forward to SEP...the teacher says she talks a lot to her little friends...now that is more like her...but we had to talk to her about not talking so much during school and to wait for recess).

Kylee was one of the first off the bus, but stood over to the side and then got in the back of the line as everyone walked to the school. It looks like she is heading the wrong way.

Walking with the rest of the bus kids to the Kindergarten playground. There is only one bus for afternoon kindergarten so they are riding for about 1/2 hr. before they get to school.
At the playground waiting for a swing. When she finally did get a swing it was because the teachers blew their whistles to have the kids say good-bye to us and get in line to go inside. Well Kylee decided to not line up but to get on the swing and start swinging. She just swung and watched the kids lining up. So Jon went over to get her off the swing and I went and found her backpack and had her stand in line. I asked her later why she got on the swing instead of lining up and she told me because she wanted to swing (makes sense).
Jon stayed home and later went to work so we could take her to her first day...like we did for Brittany. We were going to take her this day and let her ride the bus the next day. But she really wanted to ride the bus so we just met the bus at school (when it finally showed up) and continued taking pictures like all the other crazy parents.
Getting on the bus while Principal Sherri Holbrook visits and does roll with each child.
