Chocolate Tempering

I went to a chocolate tempering workshop at Orson Gygi today with my mom, Shelley, and Heather. I thought it was fun and informative. We dipped fortune cookies, cinnamon lips, oranges, raspberries and caramels.

Now to hoping we can remember what we learned when we dip our Opera Bars this next Christmas Season.

Happy 19th Brittany

I can't believe Brittany is 19. Where did the time go. It feels like yesterday we brought her home. Remembering her as a little child really feels like yesterday. People told me it would go fast...boy they were right.

We went to Olive Garden for her birthday, that is her favorite place to eat. I made her the fudge chocolate cake and frosting.

For presents we gave her a wooden train to assemble. It is supposedly supposed to move a bit My parents gave her money to buy something for herself.

Garbage Truck

Kylee, Jon and our neighbor trying to help our poor garbage man from being stuck on our street. He keeps sliding towards us. He rolled our garbage can and our neighbors garbage to him to empty them. I am sure once he gets out he doesn't want to come down our hill for ours. He is probably very frustrated.

Driving in the Snow

We wanted to go to a ghost town today down in Beaver and meet up with Rob and Heather. But on our way down of course our vehicle had problems. The tension pulley seized on the black 4 Runner just south of Scipio. So Kylee and Porter went to get us parts while we waited for Rob and Heather to make it to us.

We all headed to Nephi to meet Kylee and Porter and ended up having some lunch at Lisa's Kitchen. It was getting to late to go to the Ghost Town at this point so we fixed the 4 Runner and went to a fort. Kylee and Porter decided to head back to his place. Brittany was very upset that we didn't do our original trip. Hopefully we can go on another day, maybe when the weather is better.

The drive home ended up in the snow, we drove through Elberta area.

Christmas Day

Started out early and opened our presents. Then we were able to have our traditional ham, waffles, eggs, chocolate syrup and maple syrup. Yummy tradition. Porter joined us for our breakfast.

Jon: flannel shirt, led flashlight gloves, knives, Off the Grid book, Chain of Thunder book, electric blanket, Hidalgo DVD, universal impact joint socket, hex tool, hose clamp pliers From parents: Knife, magnetic pickup tool, light for cordless drill, water pump for jug

Shanna: socks, dress slacks, boots, black shirt, $100 Home Depot Gift card from Brittany, cardigan, flannel shirt, sheets. From parents: sheets, $20 Home Depot Gift card, pie weights, silicone mat for pie sizing

Brittany: electric blanket, puzzles, shirt, Art sketch pad, Legacy Fire Dragon Legos, Midnight Mushroom coloring book, From grandparents: Ohuhu alcohol coloring Honolulu artist markers, Art paper pads (2), dinosaur creation

Kylee: electric blanket, acrylic nail kit with drill, neutral gel nail polish set, cowboy belt buckle, wood burning kit, flag cow skull, cow hide pillow cover From grandparents: Acrylic morales coffin clipper, Karlash professional polymer acrylic crystal nail powder, polarized sunglasses

Later that day we headed over to my parents house for dinner and games.

Brittany's Says.....

Quote of the day from my soon to be 10 yr old, "I don't want to be healthy! I want to be big and fat like you! Hmmm ya thanks.
B: "Dad I got permanent marker on the table. Can you clean it off before mommy sees it?" Jon: Laughing says "You are supposed to use your place mat" B: "Please come clean it off" nothing... B: Comes upstairs, "Mom dad drew on a balloon with permanent marker and got it on the table. He didn't use a place mat." Me: "Jon?" B: Runs downstairs "See dad if you don't clean it up, mommy is going to blame you!" So I guess she is figuring out new ways to get something she wants accomplished quickly?
Believing can make things come true
We were talking about how big things are and Brittany says: Mom you remind me of a Gar Fish. Jon laughs and said at least it wasn't a dragon.
So, today at the dinner table, our 8yr old, who is learning the articles of faith, says "we believe that chocolate is the yummest thing ever!!!!" hehehe must the the 14th one.
So my 8yr old, said to Shanna, "you should work at Home Depot... That way you can be the one to hand out the popcorn!!!"
"Daddy are you Santa Clause"?, I say why do you ask? she says "cause your fat like him"...hmmmm, not sure how to take that.
What does Santa drink?...Coke?
Tonight while getting ready to go to bed, Brittany said (7rs old) "daddy read me 3 stories tonight", Jon says no we usually only do 2, why should we do 3.. she says, "Cause I am CUTE and you LOVE me.... yup.. lost that one.. I think she ended up with 4.
After the first day of 2nd Grade.."You mean we get to go to school tomorrow...this day just gets better and better!"
At 7 yrs old: You know what my favorite part about nature is? The insects.
My favorite room in your house is the food storage room.
The lady has puffy legs.
Bless daddy that he will have a good day at work. Bless mommy that she will have a good day with housework, or whatever.

Kylee Says.....

July 2, 2018 I told Kylee she needs some Tennis Shoes for her tennis lesons. She asked what they were. I told her it is what we all wear. She said oh, I thought you said "tennis shoes". I said I did. She said oh I always say "tenna shoes".
July 1, 2018 Talking about the sacrament Kylee said we renew our sins when we take the sacrament. We laughed so hard.
Asked Me (Shanna) "Was the light bulb invented when you were a kid?" (age 9)
To Jon for Fathers day: Roses are red, violets are blue. I love you more than rootbeer and shoes! (age 9)
Old people are like cats, they both take lots of naps. (age 9)
Why does daddy do everything? Me: WHAT? (age 7)
We were talking about cars I had when I was younger and she asks, were tbey horse powered? So I asked what? She says, you know, like horse and buggy?

So, tomorrow is Pizza day at the elementary school. In her prayers tonight our youngest prayed to have a good day at lunch with pizza! Struck me funny, oh I have taught her too well.
Green reminds me of pickles.
This isn't bacon, its pork. (We were eating canadian bacon at the time).
I want some "Chicken on a Bone" (aka Kentucky Fried Chicken)

During one of the football games, while the teams were lining up to run a play, Kylee (5 yrs old) says "why do they stick their butts up in the air"?
At 5 yrs old: "Dad can I go to a hotel with Patrick? It has a pool?"
Can you let a girl spend her time in the bathroom!
Just gotta let a man be a man...
Maybe that is why my tummy is big...it is having a baby.
I am thankful for my fridge, the microwave, and my family, Brittany, mommy, daddy, and me.
I'm dancing...and so are my cheeks.
