4th of July Celebrations

July 4, 2020

We drove to a place called Up On Top.  This is a location Jon's family used to go camping when he was younger.  It is really pretty up there.  I have been camping there a few times with him when we were dating.  You can no longer camp there it is blocked off.  But you can walk to the area.  As you wander around and look at the trees you can see various initials in the aspen trees.  Jon found one of his (JEB) and we found his cousin Mavis's initials.  We couldn't read many of them and we couldn't find our initials from years ago.  We had the girls each do theirs and Jon did mine and his again.

He also tried teaching them how to carve a whistle out of a branch of an aspen tree like his dad taught him when he was little.  But it wouldn't work.  Maybe another time.

This is the hill Karen Chase fell down when she was little.
They were running down the hill and jumping sage brush,
she tripped and fell and scraped up her face.

We were driving home a little after 9:00 p.m. by the time we got to where the Knoll Fire started.  I timed it and it was 9 miles from our house.  It was amazing how big the fire area was.

The moon was coming over the mountain and looked kind of cool.  It looked like it was coming out of the cloud.

Due to the Coronavirus all city fireworks and gatherings were cancelled so Utah County had three different locations where they were going to have fireworks higher than normal so they could be seen all over the county.  We watched from our park across the street.  It appeared that all three of them had the same pattern of fireworks.  Pretty cool.

Our neighbors were doing fireworks as well and they went all out.  It was very loud and crazy around.  Brittany didn't come out.  She watched from the window in the house.

This was the view of the firework show across the lake.
The two bright lights are two of the shows the count put on.
Very fuzzy picture.  Didn't turn out well.

Someone posted a picture of a view across the county with a lot of neighborhood fireworks going on.  It was kind of cool to see.

Hamilton at Heather's

July 3, 2020

Tonight we went over to Heather and Kent's house to watch Hamilton outside on the big screen with their projector.  It was actually a good movie.  At first I couldn't figure out what they were saying but I was finally able to.  The music was kind of catchy.
