Daddy/Daughter Breakfast

March 19, 2016

Daddy/Daughter Breakfast

For the stake activity day Daddy/Daughter activity this year they held an early morning breakfast.  They also said to wear PJ's.  The only other thing that was done was getting their picture taken.  Kylee had an enjoyable time.

Part 2 Fremont Indian State Park

April 7, 2016
Part 2
Fremont Indian State Park

We headed to the Fremont State Park after Cove Fort. We spent a while inside looking at the exhibits, watched a movie, and of course bought souvenirs for Jon and the kids.  Then we picked a trail and started the tour.

It is cool to see the different petroglyphs along the walls and is sad to see that people have defaced some of them.  We picked one of the shorter walks so when it T'd off we decided to go along that one.  Well Brittany decided to go ahead and would stop at the next T when the other kids told her it was the other way. So I had to go after her to find her.  Well on that trail I came to another T so I picked one and hoped for the best.  Apparently that is the one she picked as well because she had already met up with the rest of the group (so Jason came up after me to let me know).  I guess Brittany didn't fare to well and had an asthma attack on her hike.  Jon said she couldn't breath well and was having a hard time so he gave her some albuterol and water by the time I got back to the cars.  When I saw her she had a really red face and was very mellow.

Jon, Kylee, and I went into the Indian pit house.  Really small and short so Jon and I couldn't stand up.  But pretty interesting.  I kind of wonder how warm it was in the winter and how cool in the summer.  Not sure if Brittany went in or not, she didn't with us.

Brittany was pulling faces at me. Kylee and the boys (Sterling and Nikolas) were sitting on the grainery.

Before we headed home we decided to try to go to the Silver King Mine. The lady at the shop told us the roads might be covered in snow so we wouldn't be able to get to it.  Sure enough it was.  As we were getting ready to head back down the road Jon noticed Rob's tire looked really low (he already had to fill it before we headed to go to Fremont Indian State Park).  Yup there was only 20 lbs in the tire so he had to hurry and change his flat.  There was a gash in the tire he assumed he must have ran over something on the way from their house that morning to meet us.  We always have something go wrong in our travels.  At least this one wasn't too major.

We got back to camp around 9:00 and still needed to have dinner.  So the Smith's roasted hot dogs.  Baldwins and us grilled our hamburgers.  I think the Smith's finally headed home a little after 11:00.  Late night for all.

We have been having problems with our trailer battery holding a charge so it goes really low after turning the generator off so we ran our generator again tonight probably till about 11:00.  Might have to get a new battery.  We are not running the heater during the evening in hopes to keep the battery charged enough for the fridge.

Part 1 Cove Fort

April 7, 2016
Part 1
Cove Fort

Today we headed down to Cove Fort for the afternoon.  Rob and Heather Smith's family met up with us for the day.

We must have received the extended version of the tour because it was quite long.  But I found it very interesting.  We learned new things this trip that I hadn't heard in previous tours.  We even saw new areas and were able to go up on top of the fort (which we had never done before).  I hadn't realized there was anything behind the fort. But we saw the garden, ice house, bunk house, and a couple other contraptions (one for stabilizing the ox while getting shoes on, the other a hay lifter).

After the tour we were able to go look at the other buildings we saw.  We also were able to go into a new barn they built and the kids were able to sit on the seat of the wagon that was inside.

Before walking into the fort Brittany and Alexis were picked to try opening the front doors.  Apparently they weighed 1000 lbs now (used to be 2000 lbs because they were filled with sand back in the day).  Both were able to move the door with ease due to the hinges on the doors.  I think that was the point the tour guide wanted to show us, was the doors moved easily even though they are really quite heavy.

Nephi Canyon

April 5, 2016

Nephi Canyon

For Spring Break this year we headed down to Nephi Canyon with Jason and Maria Baldwins family for a little camping.  We were able to get the spot that Jon's family used to get for years (finally no one was in that spot).  I like this spot the best because you are down off the road next to the stream and kind of shielded by a big hill.

It was kind of chilly and breeze the first night.  But we toughed it out and made smores after dinner.

My Styling Girl

April 2, 2016

Kylee went out to ride her bike so I told her she had to put socks and shoes on.  This is what my styling girl came back with.

Later when I saw her when it was time to run errands I saw that she had changed her shirt to a black one.  So that is how we went on errands.  Not sure if the boy that kept starring at her was due to her wonderful outfit or the fact that the girls were being crazy/goofy at the store...either way, hmm.

Easter Morning and Egg Hunt

March 27, 2016

The girls did really well about not coming into the front room to look at their baskets until we told them they could.  I was surprised.  I wish the picture I took hadn't turned out fuzzy but this was the best out of the two that I took. Straight to the candy.  We noticed we only got chocolate this year no jelly beans.

After breakfast since we don't have church until 2:00 we decided to do an Easter Egg hunt.  They both got to find 24 eggs.

So these are the girls Easter dresses for the girls.  We finally did get one picture that turned out decent.  But I wanted to put the candid pics as well.  Kind of fun for me to see the girls reactions to each other at times and just them being unaware.  They of course love it when I do that to them.

I told Brittany it looks like she was proposing
