Double Dosing Aide

Well today (9-18-12) I started as a Double Dosing Aide at Sage Hills Elementary.  It is only Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 2:15 to 3:30, but hopefully it is a foot in the door for another time.  Unfortunately that is all the district allowed on extra hours this year due to class sizes they were hoping for more hours.  But it is during the day and I will have the same time off as my kids.  And it will give me a little extra spending money.  And that is what I wanted, of course more hours would have been better.

Get to help kids in the 3rd grade get extra help with Language Arts, Reading, and Math.

Unitas

Lost Lake

Jon was supposed to go fishing today with his nephew and a friend but neither were able to go due to other things coming up.  So he asked if we wanted to go on a drive to the Unitas and do some fishing.  Of course we were up to that.  So we got up earlier than normal and headed out.  I think by the time we got out it was 8:30.  We were shooting for 8:00 but didn't quite make it.

The first place we went was Lost Lake. It was a lot lower than when we normally go but it is also end of summer so that is pretty normal. We had to walk a lot further to the lake from the car.  Brittany didn't want to fish she wanted to play in the water and in the mud.  Kylee fished for a little while.  The kids are getting old enough now so Jon is able to actually do a little fishing of his own while the kids are doing theirs.  However, he does still have to help them from time to time when they catch a fish or they want a new lure.

I charged the battery on the camera so we could bring it today.  However, when we got up to the lakes I remembered that I had forgotten the camera.  So both Jon and I had to take the pictures from our camera.  We didn't have a zoom so some of the shots are further away than I would have liked.  Jon told me I did have a zoom with my phone.  I said how....so he told me I would have to walk closer...ha ha, he is so funny.

Kylee caught some seaweed

Told them to only go to their knees.  Do you think that
lasted the whole time?  Brittany did better than
Kylee with this.  But I did bring a change of clothes
for them for the ride home.

Told me she was building a beaver dam.

On the way to the West Fork of the Blacks Forks River

The leaves are beginning to change.  But there weren't tons that had changed yet.  We did catch glimpses of the oranges and reds in the distant mountains and it looked pretty.  I still want to go on another drive when the leaves really begin changing.  Hopefully I will remember the camera when we go again.

Whole herd of sheep on both sides of the road

When we got to this particular spot we had to drive 20 miles on a dirt road, so it took us a while.  But it was sure pretty there.  Jon said this is his new favorite place.  While the kids were playing in the water Jon got his fly pole out and did some fly fishing.  He said he had fun doing that.  My battery died on my camera by the time he got to that so I was unable to get a picture.

While at this spot we told the girls again only go to their knees and to stay where we could see them.  Because the little stream/river meandered around so much and they would quickly be out of view.  There were some pretty deep holes as well so we obviously didn't want them to fall into one.  Well we all know how well kids listen don't we.

While Jon was fly fishing and I was laying down in the Lexus on my seat (apparently I decided to catch a cold today and it hit me hard), the kids wandered off around a bend.  We called for them to come back but of course they didn't listen.  Next thing we hear is screaming.  At first I couldn't tell if it was their normal playing around screaming or not...but I quickly determined that it wasn't the playful scream.  Next thing I see is Brittany coming running around the bend through the water and we still hear Kylee screaming.  Before I could get out of the car I see Jon drop his pole and run across the river to get to Kylee.  Fortunately she had started up the river bed shortly so I hollered to him that I see her now.  She had apparently stepped into a deep hole almost up to her neck (a little past her knees huh?).  It scared her pretty badly.  I told Brittany she shouldn't leave her sister if she is in trouble...but she quickly reminded me that she had come running for help.  Which was exactly what we have told them to do if someone is in trouble, so she did the right thing.  I decided we were done in the river (partly because it was getting late and partly because I really wasn't feeling well at all).  So we had them both get into dry clothes and eat a sandwich.  Then we started our LONG drive home.

Side note:  The girls really had tons of fun playing in the water.  Especially in this location.  They had sand and the water for the most part was pretty shallow.  You just had to watch at times where you were.  They also found little fish that they liked to try to catch.

We liked the way the rocks on that mountain were vertical

It seemed to take forever to get out of this area.  But on a day I feel better I would love to go back there.  It was really pretty.  I know Jon wants to go fishing there again sometime.

Sunset on the way home.  I wish our cameras would
capture the colors, the picture doesn't do it justice.

We only had a couple stops on the way home.  We stopped in Heber at Walmart to get me some cold meds and then McDonalds to grab a hamburger or something.  Apparently the sandwiches didn't do the job.  By the time we got home it was about 10:00.  Got the kids to bed and then I headed to bed as well.  Jon stayed up to watch the rest of the BYU/Utah game.

Yet another fun long day.

A New Look

Kylee got her new glasses a couple weeks into this new school year.  She was so excited to get them.  She likes her new look!!!

Peaches

We were able to go to Grandpa and Grandma Chambers house this year and pick some peaches.  We were pretty much out so it was good timing.  We got 21 quarts, dried some, froze some for peach icecream later, and made some peach icecream as well.  The rest of them we just ate...mmmm.

Old school tracking

Brittany wanted to tape all (well almost all) of her tracking sheets from 2nd grade and have me take a picture of them.  I can't believe she had so many...there were still many that we were unable to get on or have discarded by the time we took this picture.  She wanted a picture of them before I threw them out in our room cleanup day.

Back to his hobby

Jon has decided to start tying his flies again for fly fishing.  He is going to be going with a friend soon so he is stocking back up.  It has been several years (probably not since Tooele) that he has tied any.  But he enjoys it.

School Year 2012-2013

Off to another year of school.  This year both girls get to take the bus.  Brittany is in 3rd grade and is going to Meadow Elementary they are the Mustangs.  Kylee is in 1st grade and is going to Sage Hills Elementary and they are the Tunderhawks.

They are both really excited to begin.  Kylee can't wait until she gets to eat lunch at school.  Brittany's bus comes between 8:15 and 8:30 and gets home about 4:30 so it will be a long day for her everyday.  Kylee's bus comes around 8:43 and will get home about 3:45.

Bear Lake

The girls have been wanting to go to a beach for a while.  So we finally picked a date and headed out to a fun day at Bear Lake.  We got up early 5:30 am and didn't get home until 10:30 pm.  Very long long day.

While Jon and I were setting up our little shade area the girls headed out to play in the water and sand.  They had fun looking for shells.  When we asked them what the favorite part of the day was, they said playing in the waves.  We went out into the water after lunch.

I didn't get a picture of it, but Brittany found an isolated area of water that she kept trying to join to another area.  I had to help her dig a trench from one to the next.  It was sure a pain because of all the roots that were in the sand.

Our little setup

Heading out to the waves

Proof I was there

This was the view we had of them most of the time

Getting warm

They loved looking through their gobbles

On the way home we stopped at a KOA and had the girls take showers.  Since we have 9 am church I knew I wouldn't be able to get showers before bed tonight and it would be way to early in the morning to do so.  Glad we did.  Although it is a ridiculous amount of money you have to pay for a shower.
