Swimming Pool

June 15, 2013:  Got the kids pool out for them to play in for a while this afternoon while Jon and I did miscellaneous stuff around the house.  Yes the pool is probably too small for them now, but we don’t really have room to put in a permanent one that is bigger. So this will have to do and we will just have to pay to go to pools.

Jon also took pictures of the boat so we can sell it.  We would both love to keep it, but we have had it for almost two years, it doesn’t run, we don’t have time or money right now to put into it.  So hopefully we can get a little bit out of it.

Family BBQ

June 8, 2013

We went to Jon’s moms house this year for our annual family bbq.  This year his mom didn’t want it the same weekend she usually had it on because it was for his dads birthday and their anniversary.  I don’t think she wanted to associate it with that same time frame.  Although it only got moved one week later.  The day turned out fun.

The Smith family gave Dora a frame to put grandpa's flag in from the funeral for display in her front room.  Turned out really nice.  Angie Middleton made it at her shop.

We had a really nice visit with everyone.  After pretty much everyone had left us, Nancy, and Michelle (later Angie) all sat around till about 9:30 or so visiting.  Lets just say I learned a lot of new interesting and hilarious facts about them and Jon’s parents.  It was a blast!!

New Car

June 7, 2013

New car.  2010 Subaru Forester.  Kind of fun getting a “new” to us car.  The only other car we bought that new was our Corolla, all our others have been 1999 or so.  This will be a fun car to drive around.  We are hoping to use it for family road trips (i.e. Glacier like Heather has hinted on going to).

Fence posts still?

June 5, 2013

Well the posts have been in for our fence for a while now.  We are just waiting for the guy who gave us the quote for the cement.  Little did we know he was going to back out and leave us hanging.

Kylee's swimming

June 3, 2013

Kylee started her swimming lessons for the summer (2 weeks).  We will try to do two sessions again this year.  I can’t sign her up for the 2nd until I get the slip at the end of classes to find out what level to sign her up for.  She was excited again to get to go swimming.  I have to remind her to not talk to the other kids the whole time but to listen to her teacher.  She is such a social butterfly.

Fast forward to last day of classes.  Yea she has passed Level 2 so now we can start Level 3.  She improved a lot from last year and has finally mastered all the items from this level.  Way to go Kylee.

Nappy Time

June 1, 2013

Brittany took an unexpected nap this morning after breakfast.  I think it was for about 2 hours (I hate what some of these drugs do to her system!!). Anyway, this was the pose I found her in when I came up to switch out laundry.  She looks so comfy.

Fence Posts

May 31, 2013

Yea today they are starting to put in our fence posts!!  We almost have a fenced in yard.  They sure had a hard time with the rocks.  This crew seemed to put the posts to close to the rock wall so they had a hard time.  When the fence company owner came out to see what what going on he asked them why they didn't slide them back further.

Mrs. Long and Kylee

May 30, 2013

Last day of school.  Both girls had class activities in their class for the 1 ½ hrs they had to be there.  Since I work at Kylee’s school I was able after I was done working to go into her class and get a picture of her and her 1st grade teacher Mrs. Long.

Bugs crawling all over me

May, 2013

Brittany’s school had a school carnival that she went to during school.  She said she didn’t have fun, but when she came home she was covered in a whole bunch of bug stickers that she got from there. So I think she secretly had fun but just won’t admit it.

Memorial Day 2013

WARNING:  Tremendous amount of pictures included.  They are for use in the book I make at the end of the year so you can disregard.

May 24-27, 2013

Annual Memorial Day trip.  This year it didn’t rain once on us.  We were all healthy as well.  Not sure how we lucked out so well this year, but I am not complaining.  We had a nice time camping.  It was pretty relaxing.  We didn’t sit around camp that much, which is fine with me because that is a little boring for me.  The first night we got there it was about 9:00 so we had to set up in the dark and it was pretty late by the time we were done.  The kids put themselves to bed, that was the first time they had done that camping.

The next day (Saturday) we went to the park and waited for the Smith family to come back from the cemetery.  We wanted to wait for Jon’s mom on Sunday before we went to the cemetery.  So we walked around the park for a while looking at things.  When everyone showed up we ate lunch and let the kids play on the playground.  Brittany was funny because apparently she was ready to leave before Jon and I so she played us.  She apparently told Jon that I said I was ready to go and then came over to where I was and said that Jon said he was ready to go.  Neither of us had said that so we laughed when we figured that out.  Instead of going back to camp and staying there we headed up the canyon a little further to a lookout point called Devils Kitchen.  We walked out to the point for a little while.  It has a nice view.

Then Jon took us to another lookout point.  He showed the girls that the mountain (Mt. Nebo) we were looking at was the same mountain that grandpa used to herd sheep on when he was younger.  Always a nice little family info to pass along.

On Sunday when Jon’s mom and brother (Dan Bowers) got up to camp we headed out to the cemetery.  The girls had fun putting grandmas flowers on the graves and helping out where they could.  I think they liked that they were the only kids there so they got to help a lot.  There are two cemeteries there that we visit.  We have family at both of them.  I have been going for years but I still don’t know all the stories and who is related to who so I mentioned to Dorrine that it needs to be written down and noted next to each grave.  That is something she started a long time ago that she said she needs to finish for everone.   After the cemeteries we went back to the park for some lunch.   Jon’s mom and brother left after lunch so the rest of us headed back up the canyon.  We kind of sat around for a while with everone at camp until it was decided that we should all go to the little stream and wade in it.  I took pictures of people playing around in the water.  Some of the adults were kind of funny to watch as they were trying to cross without falling.  I think we only had a couple people who fell.  A nice way to cool off on a hot afternoon.

Looks like he is drinking the water.

Michelle giving Alexis a piggy back ride across.

When we got back to camp it was time to begin dinner.  Jon helped the girls start a fire so we could roast hotdogs and marshmallows.

After that some of the boys had their bb guns out so Jon helped Brittany and Kylee shoot for a little while.  That evening it was a nice and relaxing just sitting around the camp visiting.

Monday we packed up and headed out.  Not so much of a relaxing day as we are just packing up while the kids play around.  On our way out of town I had Jon stop by the cemetery one more time so I could get a picture of his dads headstone.  Glad we live closer now so the trip home isn’t so bad anymore.
