St. Patricks Day 2014

We didn't do much for St. Patrick's Day other than the typical green clothing.  However, I thought the kids might have fun with green pancakes for dinner.  They thought it was pretty fun.

Kylee did make a trap this evening in the hopes of catching a leprechaun.  I guess we will see how that works out for her.

Fleece Blankets

The girls tied their own fleece blankets.  I got it all cut and put it out for them and then they tied them.  They felt like it was going to take them to long to do it themselves, so they asked Jon and I to help.  I think they had fun making their own blankets.

Piano

Back in January 2014 Jon's sister Nancy and her daughter Angie gave us their old piano because they didn't know when it would be used again.  It was currently sitting in Angie's shop in the backroom.  So yay we now have a piano and I have signed up the kids for piano lessons.

Kylee's Bun

March 13, 2014

Kylee has been doing her hair in a bun for the last several days.  She wanted a picture of what it looked like.  I think she did a good job.

Old vs. New

Kylee's Room

We have been needing new beds for the kids for years.  But haven't been able to until finally now. Kylee's box spring even broke last year, you can see where it is totally sagging in the middle.  We went Saturday (March 8th) and finally bit the bullet.  They were delivered today (March 11th).  Kylee was so excited to sleep in her new bed tonight.  However last night and this morning she was sad that we were giving away her old bed. She wanted to save it down in the basement (I don't think so).

On Saturday when we were looking at the beds, she had fun going from bed to bed trying them out.  We narrowed them down to our price range and gave her a choice.

Old

This is her choice.  It is actually taller than our bed.  She says it is so soft.  She is funny.  She wanted to read her stories inside her covers laying on top.  She laid on her bed during her tablet time this afternoon. After making the bed and seeing how high off the ground it is, I am going to have to have some sort of bed skirt for it because the bedspread no longer touches the ground.

We turned up the heat today to hopefully heat up the mattresses so they wouldn't be to cold during bedtime, since we think they were in the truck overnight.

New

Brittany's Room

Brittany was excited to sleep in her new bed tonight as well.  She didn't seem to attached to her old bed.  I have been a little worried about her reaction to change.  But all seems ok so far.  She is in bed and doing well.

She also was excited to try out new beds on Saturday.  She fell in love with the one she decided upon.  It is one of the foam type beds so it will contour to her shape.  The guy at the store even told us that it is a really good bed for kids, especially if they have autism.  He said one of his kids has that and it helps him get into his REM sleep faster.  Don't know if he noticed Brittany and made the connection, or if he was just telling us how it is supposed to be more comfortable.  Either way, Brittany loved it.

Old

This is her new bed, however it hasn't inflated totally yet.  It was all rolled up inside vacuum plastic so it was pretty flat.  It is supposed to go up to 7" deep.  We do need to get a Bunkie board (the delivery guy told us) so the springs under the mattress don't mold into the foam.  So we will have to get that soon.  I laid on her bed and it is actually quite comfortable.  I hope it works well for her.  She did make the comment that she is unable to bounce anymore on the bed.

New

Look what I have now

So Jon came home from work on March 7, 2014 and surprised me with my very own laptop.  He said it is mine and it is set up with all my info.  Now I can use it in my Family History class.  Which I did today to do Indexing.  It is fun to have one to work on now instead of just viewing different things on my Kindle.

This is also how I have posted my last 20 or so blog posts.  Because now I can sit on the couch with everyone else instead of being isolated upstairs in the computer room.  Sure is fun to have my own laptop.

My very own Singer

February 22, 2014

We went to JoAnn's today to look for some fleece so the girls could make them a tied blanket.  Ended up getting both girls and myself some fleece to make one.  Jon already has a blanket and they always use his, so we thought they would like their own.  I will have to take pictures of their blankets and post those later.

Well, while we were there we decided to get me a sewing machine as well.  It is just a simple one so the girls could use it too.  Now I can start working on their camping quilts again...yay.

Sunset on the mountains

February 23, 2014

One evening I looked out the window and saw the mountains glowing so I decided to hurry and snap a picture.  I wish I could capture the colors I see with my camera.  But I still liked the view whether the colors showed up nicely or not.

Happy 10th Birthday Brittany

January 9, 2014

Brittany turned 10 years old today.  I can't believe how big she is getting.  It really doesn't feel like she should be that old yet.  Boy does time fly.

For her birthday this year she wanted calzones for dinner and a german chocolate cake for dessert.

From Kylee she received a miniature creeper stuffed animal and miniature enderman stuffed animal.

From us she received a Chima sticker book and another Chima Lego set.

Brittany received some money from Grandpa and Grandma Korth so she chose to buy her another Lego Chima.  She loves putting them together.

We don't do friend parties every year but we have decided that on the off years they get to invite one friend to do something with.  We still need to have her do this activity.

Surprise

Jon came home around the first week of January with this fun little toy.  He didn't tell me he had it. I didn't know until I had checked doors that night and there it was sitting in the garage.  YAY.  Now I don't have to break my back anymore.  Now here is hoping to some snow at some point.

Christmas PJ's from Grandpa and Grandma Korth

Before we took down our Christmas tree I needed to take a picture of the girls in their Christmas PJ's.

I had forgotten to take a picture of the loft tree.  Apparently I took a crooked picture, oh well.

New Years Eve

 December 31, 2013

The girls wanted to stay up late tonight so we decided to let them try.  We played games for a while and then put in a movie.  Unfortunately before we totally decided to let them stay up I gave Brittany her bedtime pills.  One of them make her really tired. So it was my fault that she didn't quite make it up.  She fell asleep about 11:30.

Kylee had fun going outside to bang on the pot.  There were a couple other neighbors outside doing the same thing. Jon thinks it is weird to do that.  But that is what I remember you are supposed to do.  Apparently he never did that growing up.

When Brittany went upstairs for bed after Kylee came back inside, she was so excited because she "got to stay up till midnight".

Watching movies

Midnight (shhhh I think she fell asleep)

Christmas morning at the Bowers

Santa was a little generous this year. The big item that the girls liked was their own tablets. Brittany has a purple one and Kylee has a pink one.  The family also received the Skylander Swap Force for Wii.

Oh what a mess

After we were done with presents we had our annual Christmas breakfast tradition.  Spiral ham, chocolate syrup, maple syrup, waffles, and eggs.  Yummy!!!

Then we headed over to Grandma Bowers' house for a couple hours and then over to Grandpa and Grandma Korth's house.
